John Hughes, Managing Director, Ask Real Estate said:
“Construction of the Q-Park car park has made great progress at Embankment and we are delighted to have secured them as a key operator as we move towards completion next summer. The scheme’s bursting with potential, we’re seeing a definite appetite for the offering and are already fielding enquiries from a number of potential occupiers. We will be introducing the scheme to our neighbours and agents at a preview evening in October, an event we have decided to hold due to the high level of interest from occupiers across the country. ”
Mark Pawson, Q-Park Senior Project Manager said:
“After successfully opening at Ask’s First Street development earlier this year we are delighted to be working with them and their partners again at Embankment, another highly desirable location in Manchester. We choose strategically desirable locations and create parking environments which are safe, clean, well-lit and secure and Embankment will be a popular choice with both office workers and shoppers alike. The retained exterior and listed red brick arches from the historic Exchange Station have presented some challenges with internal demolition and the construction of the core steel frame, and we undertook this work with the utmost care, to avoid any damage to these historic structures. We will be restoring the iconic red brick arches to their original condition and are incorporating them into the structure of the car park, protecting Manchester’s history and transport heritage. We are pleased that the project has topped out and will be ready for the grand opening in 2016.”
We enjoyed a great event last night to celebrate the scheme and showcase its unique location to the Manchester property market and our neighbours in the Victoria Quarter. Friends and stakeholders joined us for drinks at Manchester's finest tearooms, Proper Tea, which gave us great views right across the site.
The City Mayor of Salford Ian Stewart kindly told us how important Embankment is to the city of Salford and delighted guests with his tales of arriving at Exchange Station into a smoggy Salford from his beautiful Scottish homeland. His view of how Salford has been transformed since then and become a thriving City joined to Manchester by the River Irwell told how powerful the two Cities have become when they work together.
Our guests enjoyed site tours with the Ask team, looking over the floodlit site to see how work is progressing and with a special music event on in the neighbouring Cathedral and late night shopping in Exchange Square the whole area was buzzing with activity.
Thanks to everyone who came and if agents or occupiers would like to find out more about Embankment do contact us or download our brochure here.
