100 Reasons to celebrate. N02 – live life to the full
100 Embankment will be ready in summer 2020 and will sit proudly alongside its sister building, 101 Embankment which is now home to Swinton Insurance.
Embankment is situated at the point where the cities of Manchester and Salford meet and is surrounded by a host of great places to eat, drink, visit and shop. From the superb restaurants at the Corn Exchange to some of the best shops and stores in the UK, there is something for everyone – right on the doorstep.
As part of our 100 Reasons campaign we take a look at what makes Embankment one of the best business locations in Manchester and see what is in store for employees.
Food and Drink
With its Edwardian splendour, the Corn Exchange is home to a unique mix of restaurants and bars from around the world offering a fusion of cultures and flavours and an unforgettable dining experience. Just minutes from Embankment and in the heart of the city centre on Exchange Square, the Corn Exchange is occupied by 13 great restaurants, with menus from countries including Brazil, Italy, India, Mexico and Vietnam. Perfect for a quick lunchtime meeting or a bite to eat after work, there really is something for everybody.
There is also a whole host of independent bars, clubs and pubs within a few minutes-walk of Embankment for a post-work chill out. One of the most famous is the ancient Sinclair’s Oyster Bar at Cathedral Gates whose origins date back to the 16th century.
The building has to be one of the hardiest structures known to man, having survived an IRA bomb in the late 90s it was re-located brick-by-brick moving 300 metres when the city centre was redeveloped.
Although the eponymous oyster itself is rarely on the menu Sinclair’s does offer one of the cheapest pints in town and boasts the city’s largest outdoor beer garden from where you can watch the world go about its business.
Love it or hate it Manchester Arndale is home to some of the biggest and best high-street retailers with a huge selection of stores, all under one roof. There is also a Selfridges, Next, Harvey Nichols and M&S within a 5-minute walk of Embankment. The Arndale is also home to some of the city’s best fresh fish, meat, fruit and vegetable stalls and is a favourite of foodies and would be chefs.
Offering a huge variety of restaurants and bars as well as a superb multi-screen cinema and Treetop Adventure Golf, The Printworks at Exchange Square is Manchester’s premier entertainment venue. It’s the perfect place it you are looking for an adventurous night with work mates or just a quick bite to eat.
Manchester Cathedral is also much more than a place of worship. It hosts a wide ranging programme of events throughout the year.
And, with Manchester Arena just around the corner, you can see the best bands and artists whenever you like.
Soak up some culture at Chetham’s and the Stoller Hall, a wonderful, historic place for music and for learning. Chetham’s is a cultural oasis in the heart of Manchester with a world famous music school, historic library and a superb concert venue.
Similarly, whether you’re a football fan or not, it’s well worth a visit to the National Football Museum which sits just behind the Cathedral. Delve into the social history and culture of the much-loved sport, with fascinating artefacts and exhibitions showing how football became the game we all know and love today.
